1. An event that has a bad ending e.g. something that causes destruction or suffering.
2. “Life is beautiful” is a tragedy because it shows how the life of Jewish people were rewind or ended during the holocaust. This movie tells the story of Guido and his family during the holocaust and how they in particular survived and the sacrifice that Guido made for his family.
3. This movie can be classified as a comedy because of the manner in which the protagonist behaves in everyday situations and in more serious situations.
4. Villain – a villain, also referred to as the bad guy or antagonist, is usually someone who is the reason behind the something bad the happen and in most cases is against the protagonist.
Victim – Someone who witnesses or is a part of the event or act and is effected by it, but is not recognised.
Hero – A hero is usually the main character in the movie, or in real life someone who has done something special enough to be seen as heroic by those who witnessed or been victim or the heroic act.

- Is The son of Dora and Guido and is introduced later on in the movie. He is a part of the plot because everything that Guido does when he is introduced is because of him. The audience would have a range of emotion towards this character because of his innocents and how much sufferage he puts up with, but without completely knowing which builds a strong connection between him and the audience. He is a part of history because he survived the holocaust at such an early age.

Guido, hero:
is the main character and Hero, he adds comedy to the movie through his personality. At the beginning of the movie his aim is to win the love of Dora. When he gets married to her, they have a son Joshua. They are then all sent to the Jewish camps. He is an important character in the movie. The audience would have a range of emotion for him; homour, sorrow and happiness. He is a part of history because of his story and how he died saving his son and wife in the holocaust.
Dora, victim
- Is Guido’s lover and wife in the second half of the movie.
- The majority of the funny acts by Guido are in an effort to win her love. She is with Guido from the beginning of the movie and is the driving force behind Guido’s bravery.
- she was a part of history because she was a woman who had experienced the suffrage of holocaust the survived it.
Nazi’s, villains:
- They are the antagonists in the movie who send the main character to the camp and make them suffer. They are introduced toward the end of the movie and causes the suffrage of the Jewish people in the camp.
- They are a part of history because they the main problem in WW2 and the holocaust
Nazi commander/ dr , Villian and Victim:
Starts off as a rather friendly character as the doctor at the start of the movie. He is then later realised by Guido as a Nazi commander. He has a conncection with Guido through riddles. He is a part of the plot because he takes charge of Nazi’s and is served by Guido who is a waitress at the time.He is a part of history because of how much power and control he had over the nazi’s. The audience has a neutral connecetion with this character.
